Physician triathlete and US Naval officer, Andrew James Baldwin famous by the name of ‘Andy Baldwin’ was born on February 5th 1977 at Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Andrew was Son of Republican and former two-term state representative for Pennsylvania ‘Roy Eugene Baldwin’ and High school mathematics teacher ‘Cynthia Laulani Baldwin’. In the year 1995 Andrew graduated from his high school Manheim Township High School as Valedictorian. In the same year the All-American swimmer was awarded the ‘National Scholar Athlete’ by ESPN.

During High School days Andy took up odd jobs to save money for education, Baldwin owned a lawn mowing business and saved more than $25K to meet educational expenses. Andrew Baldwin was inclined towards various sports during high school days including tennis, football, baseball, basketball, long distance swimming and athletics.

Andrew Baldwin received full scholarship from Reserve Officer Training Corps and was sent to Duke University where he decided to pursue pre-medical curriculum. Andrew continued long distance swimming as university athlete and finally graduated with honors as student-athlete, He also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Biology. Now Andrew was a commissioned officer in the U.S Navy at the age of 22.

After joining back US Navy as a commissioned officer in 1999, Andy received yet another scholarship to University of California, San Francisco School of Medicine to study Health profession. Along with his studies Andy competed in his first triathlon in 2001 and finished on top of the podium. Andrew graduated from the School of medicine in 2003 and subsequently followed it by one year internship at Naval Medical Center, San Diego. As a medical officer Andrew served ‘Naval Special Warfare Group Three’ of Coronado from June to December 2004.

As part of U.S Navy Andy had completed Undersea Medicine training from Navy Diving School by June 2005. After being equipped with all the skills Andrew was assigned to Navy Medical Corps as Diving Medical Officer as part of Mobile Diving and Salvage Unit located at Hawaii Islands. Under this assignment Andy served for a period of approximately three years i.e. from July 2005 to March 2008. During Hawaii service years Andrew appeared in quite a few TV shows including ABC's hit show "The Bachelor: Officer and a Gentleman." His appearance in this show made Andy a household face across America.

Andy is associated with multiple humanitarian projects including treating patients in 600 remote Laotians of Laos for diseases like malaria, dengue fever and malnutrition. Andrew also worked towards generating funds for treatment of Pancreatic Cancer after his Uncle died of the same disease. Andy actively participated ‘Project Active’ dedicated towards diffusing war tension by promotion of sports in war affected zones of our planet.

Andy Baldwin has dated model and athlete Lokelani McMichael and swimsuit model Jessiqa Pace before settling with the winner of T.V series 'The Bachelor' Tessa Horst. Andy and Tessa had announced their engagement; however they called it off in August 2007.

In April 2008 Andy was posted from Hawaii to Bureau of Medicine and Surgery located at Washington D.C.
